Project Spotlight: Sunset Ridge

Budrovich Excavating

Customer: ARCO

Budrovich Excavating broke ground on the former Des Peres Quarry site in September.  The 25-acre quarry was filled over the years with clean construction fill including soil, concrete and asphalt.  The proposed development will include a Provision Living Senior Communities, an apartment complex, a hotel, restaurants and other various retail buildings.  Our scope of work includes the site work for the overall infrastructure and the proposed Provision Living Senior Communities.

The earthwork scope included SWPPP installation, existing fill remediation by removal and re-compaction 16 feet below grade at the Provision Living building Pad, installation of geogrid at the base of over-excavation, overall site grading of approximately 50,000 cubic yards, finish grading for proposed building pad and pavements, and placing topsoil.

The utility scope of work included 1,650 feet of sanitary with a 38-foot deep connection, CIPP Lining of 790 feet of existing main, 2200 feet of storm sewers, bio-retention basins and 2,250 feet of 12” water main.

When asked why Budrovich was selected for the Sunset Ridge at Manchester project, ARCO’s project manager Kyle Darnell stated “we work with Budrovich on ARCO projects because of their ability to help identify risks and create solutions.  Complicated projects like the infrastructure for the mixed use development of Sunset Ridge at Manchester allows Budrovich to be a member of the team.  Together we work through the unknowns of site for grading and site utility issues simultaneously.  We’ve been able to limit the project’s risks and keep the project on schedule.”
